I do see what you mean now, and I have been able to recreate it. Start a private match, then end the game, bring up the quit screen, keep yes highlighted, and right when it truly ends the game (is going back to the lobby, you will see the glowing around the "Yes" stop really quick) hit x on the "Yes" option for quit. It makes the xmb sound because the game is doing something at the same time. You can hear that is what happened, as right after I clicked yes, you hear me join the lobby again, and then the game immediately closes.
