Well i put my laptop in my laptop partition of my backpack and then put my books in like i always do and went 2 class. I used it in class and then put it back in its partition. When i got back 2 my dorm i turned on my laptop and there was a diagonal black line in the upper left corner. When it loaded to the boot screen where i choose whether to go into vista or ubuntu everything under the crack went white and gray. is there any way 2 fix this? if not do you know a rough idea of how much a screen would cost

Well I'm not sure about a "fix" but I know a new screen will probably be in the hundreds depending where you go but a quick google you gets sites like these Laptop LCD Screen where you can go and select you're laptop make & model and it'll give you prices for the screen.

my suggestion - if you can fix it - buy a broken one from e-bay and fix it urself.

as for prices. Last time my screen messed up went to my local repair shop, coset me 320 bucks to fix the LCD screen of a friggin 1200 dollar laptop.

If u don't mind paying 300 or more then take it to repair shop,
