Are you looking for a gaming laptop? or a normal laptop?

For a gaming laptop I recommend the Dell XPS series.
For a normal laptop I recomend a Sony Vaio or a Dell.

Dell came out with a new line of laptops, Studio 15 and Studio 17. I'd recommend being one of the first to own one of those beauties?

And stay away from Mac. Unless of course you have money to waste, then go ahead and purchase overpriced hardware..

Its not overpriced ALOT, but a little. Mine I have had for 3 years now, no viruses, free battery replacement, and when it broke one time from droppage they fixed it....Free. Now the Toshiba Satellite I've had for 4 years has broken 11 times, paid about $1000 to get it fixed (now I am a computer genius almost) so really if you add it up it about is equal pricing.

Seriously you'll love the MacBook Pro, dual boot it to have windows and Mac OSx, that way if there's something only for windows you can still have it.

P.S. If you are a college student or going into college you get a free Ipod touch, I just bought a new MacBook Pro for $1800 and It's worth the money.

I disagree with the Dell only because there motherboards can only be replaced by them, say if you get an XPS system and the motherboard goes, you must go to dell for repair, they are usually cheap and low end motherboards. If you were to get a reliable laptop for multiple applications at a reasonable price I recommend one from newegg, since they have proven to have the cheapest prices on computer hardware, and awesome customer care. And the ability to see what other customers rate that product. Absolutely without a doubt the best place to get anything related to computers, parts etc, they also offer manufacturers warranty on all products and free shipping on most, no one can compete with them.

I recommend the AMD series laptops for there capabilities, I am not an Intel supporter for the fact that there chips are overpriced and you get less performance when comparing to the AMD series chips in a bechmark.

Here are a couple of good laptops that I think you would be pleased with. Remember, most systems now come with Vista, but if you are more for performance, delete Vista off the partition and install Windows XP Pro SP2, you will notice a great deal of speed, Vista is known to eat up system resources, IMHO, it is horrible OS, but again, thats just opinion.

Here is my #1 pick for price vs specs
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5520-5281 NoteBook AMD Mobile Athlon 64 X2 TK-57(1.90GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 3GB Memory DDR2 667 250GB HDD DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 7000M - Laptops / Notebooks

And pretty much any of these after that for gaming.
Newegg.com - AMD Turion 64 X2, ASUS, Laptops / Notebooks, Laptops & Accessories, PCs & Laptops

I hope you find what you are looking for, I know I always have good experiences with Newegg which I am sure most users that have dealt with them have as well. Hopefully others will have ideas to share.

A laptop that is a xbox 360 :D yes it works

I would get a dell, they are very reliable. I've taken apart many computers and the HP laptops look like they were made by a 5 year old. Some of the new AMD x4 phenoms had a problem with them and it decreases your computer power or so my dad told me. Personally, I like the intel chips better, just my $0.02. Wii moder, I have a dell and I have replaced the dell motherboard myself.

What I am saying is that dell does not use a name brand Mobo, they manufacture their own. Thus, you get a cheaper product and still pay out the ass for a system that you could have gotten twice the performance for. I am not just talking the mobo, but all the parts, graphics and sound, they gouge you with outrageous prices when compared to Newegg where you can find systems that are twice as fast and have a manufacturers warranty, for around the same price.... I am sorry but Dell is a corporate market ripoff. And good luck with Dell customer support if you have issues, say you wanna downgrade to XP, they will not support your warranty if you do that, and not to mention if you do call them, chances are you will be routed to some towel head in india that you can barely understand, these are the facts.

WHen I bought a dell a couple years ago, they werent like this, but who knows maybe your right. I did have issues with dell support(who wasnt indian, southern women accent) they wanted me to pay $$ for it but I told them if I dont get support I will never buy a dell product again and the helped me lol But I am satisfied with my dell vs my shitty HP.
