Can I use my PC screen as a TV?
I have a gateway laptop with a High Definition screen and I was wondering if I can do what I ask. I wanted to use it to play my PS3 on high-def. So is there anything I need to buy, I dont want a tv tuner, just a way to view my PS3 on my PC screen.

I have a 32inch HDTV, which I sometimes use as a moniter.
If the moniter has a HDMI Output, or scart, then you could effectively use it as a TV.

No, you guys are getting confused. I dont want to view my PC on my TV, I want to use my Laptop screen as a monitor. Like a TV. Hooking up your PS3 to your laptop and viewing it their, is it possible?

As I said, Does your laptop have a HDMI output?
If so then connect the cable into laptop and ps3 and then select the HDMI option on your laptop. That should work! I hope I helped!

yes, but since its an HDMI output I can only OUTput the screen of my laptop onto my TV. which is reversed of what I want to do, if I had a HDMI input then I wouldnt have this problems. Just wondering if their were some alternatives

yes it possible you need a VGA box its basically like a network hub for multiple monitors but some can connect all consoles.

Unless your laptop has an existing 'HD' video input, it's not going to work well enough to play. If it has a VGA input you can use a tvbox (I use a kworld 1680ex, but with a 22" acer monitor). If it has DVI input with HDCP support, you could probably use an HDMI to DVI cable.
Other than that, your only option would be a capture card, which I can almost guarantee every one is going to have some screen lag. It might not seem bad at first but most games will be mostly unplayable because you are seeing things about a half second (or more) after they really happen.
