So for a quick overview of the rankup methods in MW2:

Domination
- takes a while to start
- if someone in your group leaves, you usually have to start over
- 10-12k in 12-15min, but goes to leaderboard
- 4k every 12-15min to rank and prestige
- takes only one person to mess it up
- very boring
- can only talk to half the players with your mic
- 25k for rank an hour
- requires atleast 12 - 20 people to start
- half the people wont get in usually
- w/l will go to 1
- k/d will stay constant
- can be exciting first few times simply from the rush of cheating the system

Head Shoots in Cage Match
- no more than 5 min to start
- 6k every 4min (all going to rank)
- only takes 1 other person to start a cage match
- dont have to worry about lagging out or not getting in
- can be start without lag switch or youtube uploads
- quite boring
- 78k + challenges an hour, all for rank and prestige
- doesnt help leaderboard status
- k/d and w/l will go to 1
- occasionally get 10k challenges

Shield Hits in Cage Match
- much the same as head shots in cage matches but:
- 4-5k in 10 min
- first times doing it will get you easily 15k in challenges
- fun the first time
- 27k an hour + 15k for very first match of doing shield hits
- little to no effct on k/d
- w/l goes to 1
- can be done 2 ways (sentry gun or LMGs with OMA)

Playing Mosh Pit or Domination with friends
- if your good, huge win streaks
- usually about 5k in 12 min
- must have 6 people to do it
- lots of fun
- k/d depends on your skill
- w/l depends on how good of a group you have
- 30k per hour


I would recommend just playing legit if you have a good group of friends online and your decent. If you only have one good friend online, do head shots in a cage match. i would not recommend doing a domination rankup or a shield hit rankup as they are ineffective and tedious.
