Notice- Please be mature about modding games! Do not use these mods in Ranked Matches!
Also doing this could get you banned from of Xbox Live. Use at your own risk, and prefferably not on your main Gamertag account.

You might need prior modding background to understand some of this!

What you need...

2 files from the GoW disc/image, Coalesced.ini and Xbox360TOC.txt.
An MD5 checker, i used winMD5.exe (Download Here)
A hex editor, i used WinHex (x-ways website)

A text editor, ex. notepad, MS Word

ISO injector, by Prey. (Download)

Blank Dual Layer DVDr

Note: To get the Gow disc files on your computer you can download the torrent from here: http://torrentspy.com/torrent/905206/Gears_Of_War, but you will need a Bittorrent client such as uTorrent, or you can make a raw dump of the cd to your comp.- Both of these will take a LONG time!

First off open Coalesced.ini in notepad and find the value you wish to edit, in this tutorial i will be changing minplayers=2 to minplayers=1.

It is important that you DO NOT edit coalesced.ini with notepad as it

can corrupt the ini. Now you need to make sure you have changed everything

regarding minplayers=2. It is referenced twice as we can see in the ini.

Now open winhex, and in the asci section search for minplayers=2, once it has been found byte swap the 2 for a 1 from another value in the ini,

i changed EndOfGameDelay=15 to EndOfGameDelay=25. see how it works? Now as there are 2 references to minplayers=2 and EndOfGameDelay=15, find both

and edit accordingly. Once your done, save the file and exit the hex editor.

Doubleclick WinMD5.exe, and point it at your new coalesced.ini and hit show MD5. Make a note of this number as you will need to edit Xbox360TOC.ini

to include it.

Open Xbox360TOC.txt in notepad, on the 3rd line down you will see,

474110 0 1727648 ..\WarGame\Config\Xenon\Cooked\Coalesced.ini XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is the current MD5 hash of the coalesced.ini, you need to replace this with your new MD5 hash.

Save the changes and exit and get ready to inject the files back into the image of GoW.

Open Preys ISO injector 1.1, and open your GoW image, inject both files using the readme for instructions on usage.

Change whatever else you desire and then burn to DL DVD.

This is only 2 things that are being changed here. You can change tons of other things such as- Damage, Speed, Health, points per kill, down, etc. Just mess around with things until you get the feel for it.

In order to use a burnt disc in your Xbox 360 you must have your firmware flashed or use a hot-swap technique. For More info. about firmware flashing or other things mentioned here, visit

ok see this is where i get confused in order to do all that where do i get the firmware and how do i install it do you gotta buy a modchip in order to do this

Xbins for Firmware
You mod the firmware on you DVD drive Dump the Game Tutorials Here
Then Mod the files with this Tutorial(as in the first post on this thread)

Just about all needed Xbox/Xbox 360 file can be found on Xbins

Edit: But if you updated Gears on Jan. 22, 2007 these mods won't work

umm shit i dont know if i did was it the update with the new maps cause i updated then thats it

those colors hurt my eyes even tho i dont really care for the subject much, they still hurtz me eyeballs :(
