Sounds to me, like you guys need to open your eyes, Inferus' in every colour (took me about, a month, but once I got the first one, it was pretty, easy, tehy just all of a sudden were everywhere, but for some reason, I kept getting black and navy blueish ones, weird.
But anyways, look around on Island 2 thats where I got all of them, once you get one they start popping up, so if you want more, you gotta get one.

You do eventualy get a red infernus from Florian Cravic's gay lover, that is coincidently (or not) Bryce Dawkins, the mayor of liberty city.
Apart from that, the Infernus is immpossible to get before this time in the game, but if you drive your infernus around staying close to a safehouse, another should soon spawn being driven or parked along side the road.
Also, Infernuses are commonly driven around liberty city on multiplayer, though they are never found parked. Infernuses also have a unique colour that no other car can have - a springreen, like a very bright and light green.

I still see them around on story mode, you just have to keep your eyes open.

wierrrd i was playing an online deathmatch on happiness island and i found one behind a building i was like WWWWWWOOOOOOAAAAAAHH
i mowed like 5 people down with it then it got blown up :(
