How to dump after a patch using pcsx2
How to Dump After a Patch Using Pcsx2 By Robby23 ![]() Made for the Members at Socomscene -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Requirements: 1. You need to have your ps2 exploited and be able to load ps2link 2. You will need Xlink Beta 1 which was downloaded at ps2dev.org 3. The Dump Bios Tool which is found here 4. Pcsx2 download (Version 0.8.1)(Newest Version) (Some people have trouble configuring the newer versions so use whichever you want) 5. A way to transfer your game saves to your computer (codebreaker) 6. Ps2 Save Builder which you can download here 7. An ISO making program such as Magic ISO. 8. You also need an elf launching program. I will be using LaunchElf which can also be found here (I use version 3.41 on pcsx2). 9. I've heard from multiple people that this tutorial does not work with slim ps2s. So if this tutorial doesn?t work with your ps2 please post up your version of ps2. This worked on my v1 ps2 with the model no. of SCPH-30001. If you don?t know how to find out your version of ps2 refer to here. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- F.Y.I Dumping your bios can in no way harm your ps2. The dump bios tool is only retrieving information and causing no harm. So there is no risk in this. If you do in some way mess up on anything I am not responsible. Step 1: First, you need to establish a LAN connection with your computer and ps2. If you don't know how to do that you can refer to here. Now download ps2link and put all those files in a folder titled "PS2LINK." Transfer that folder onto the root of your memory card. Load up ps2link.elf. Once that is all done open Xlink Beta. When it asks for your ps2 ip info just fill out what is needed. If you connected your ps2 and computer up correctly it should say that you?re online at the top. Step 2: Put the dumpbios.elf on your desktop. Press Run in Xlink and select Dumpbios.elf. It should now dump your ps2's bios onto your desktop since it dumps to host0:. When it?s done dumping it should look something like this: ![]() Step 3: Put your bios into the pcsx2 bios folder. Step 4: Now that that is done you will need to transfer your game save to your computer. I used Codebreaker to transfer my game save with the patch information onto my flash drive and then I put that on my computer. When I was all done I was left with a file titled "SOCOM3_Update.cbs." Step 5: Open up your game save in Ps2 Save Builder and it should look something like this: ![]() Step 6: Create a folder with the same name as the ROOT/ID of your game save. The folder I made is called, "BASCUS-97474SOCOM3P." Extract all the files in that game save into the folder you just made. Step 7: Now open up an ISO making program. I used Magic ISO. Put the folder you just made in that ISO file and save it. Step 8: Open up pcsx2 and go to Config>Configure. Set your plugins directory and your bios directory to where your ps2's bios is located. For your Cdvdrom choose Linuzappz Iso plugin. Press configure under that and select the ISO you just made. Once you?re done press OK and go back to pcsx2. Note: If your new to pcsx2 click this link below and follow it in depth to configure pcsx2 to work on your computer. http://www.pcsx2.net/guide.php Also you need to format your memory card. To do this you need to go to config>configure and make your CDVD plugin "Null." Then go back to the main screen and press file>run. Once your at the main screen of your ps2 go to your memory card and it should say this memory card is not formatted would you like to now or something like that. Do that for both memory cards and continue on with this tutorial. This is what my settings look like. ![]() ![]() Step 9: Press Config> CPU and put it on Interpreter for pcsx2 version 0.8.1. Other higher versions just mess with the CPU because I haven?t tried it for myself. Then press File>Open Elf File and select your elf launching program that you downloaded. I used LaunchElf 3.41 Step 10: Now in LaunchElf press select and set a button to load MISC/Filebrowser. So then it should look something like this: ![]() Now press your quick button to go into filebrowser and go to mc0:\ and create a folder by pressing R1 and create folder. Then go to your CD and press R1 on the folder on your disc and copy it to mc0: For further assistance on using LauncElf refer to this link. http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?pag...chelf_tut.html The tutorial is for uLaunch which is an updated version of LaunchElf but it wasn?t updated by the original creator so they just called it uLaunch (unofficial LaunchElf). Still the same concept just refer to the section concerning FileBrowser since that is all you really need. Step 11: Once that is done press ESC and go back to Config>Configure. Select any regular Cdvdrom plugin. I used EFP ISO CDVD Driver 0.6.0. Put in the game that you want to dump in your DVD drive. Press File>Run CD and let it run for a while. I usually let it go to the main menu of the disc. (There is a bug with some versions of Pcsx2 that will only allow for Socom 3 and Socom CA to get to the memory card selection screen. You will only see a green box so continue on to step 12 after you see that screen.) Step 12: When it is done loading up to the point you desire press ESC and go to Debug>Memory Dump. Press Raw Dump at the top right. Make the start address 00000000 and the end address whatever you want (01000000 = 16MB and 02000000 = 32MB) Usually if you want a decent size dump where most of the basic codes will be held you want to make a dump from 00000000 to 00800000. You're Done!! :D Note: The only reason I transferred my game save through LaunchElf was because I couldn?t find a working USB plugin for pcsx2. If you want search for USB plugins and you can then transfer your game saves through codebreaker if you load a codebreaker.elf or the codebreaker CD in pcsx2. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I'll do what I can to help you out. Last edited by Robby23; 03-04-2007 at 03:32 AM.. |
