Ok heres the deal, my ps3 has the red blinking light wich sony says is caused by overheating. There is basically no way i can fix it, ive looked online and there really isnt much info available. If you dont know what this is well to put it simply, i cant get the machine to turn on at all, the light just blinks red.

I have to send the system out to sony, and they told me over the phone that the hardrive will be reformatted and wiped clean. What i want to know is, and would really apreciate any help...... Will my call of duty game data be gone forever? im also an elite on rainbow six vegas 2 and dont really want to play it enough to get back to elite. thats all i really care about is call of duty, i worked hard and got every golden gun myself without going into cage matches and cheating.

Im pretty sure i can still use the same PSN name once i get my system back, will call of duty still have all my info and achievements once i sign back on and download the game settings? how bout rainbow six?

1 more thing, if i am going to lose everything, then is there a way for me to hook the ps3 hardrive up to my computer to get the save data and other stuff off the harddrive? i cant put my harddrive on another ps3 system because it will just reformat it when i turn the machine on

You will not lose your Call of Duty 4 rankings and gun unlocks, but you will lose your Elite on Rainbow Six, since it's saved onto the gamesave, and no there is nothing you can do to apprehend the problem, they have to wipe the harddrive clean incase that's what's causing the problem.

ok thanks alot man. i might work my way back up in rainbow but that game pisses me off with all the lag and the leaderboards getting erased all the time. i was ranked 7th and then again 14th and kept getting erased

all you have to do is save you game saves to a flash drive and redownload then when you get you ps3 back and then go to the ps3 store and download all the games you had along with map packs

vegas 2 only sucks because of call of duty. i say this for 2 reason, 1 being that a bunch of people who didnt even play vegas 1 came from call of duty and they try to play vegas 2 as if its call of duty, playing with frags and inceniarys is such garbage but thats the only way some people can get kills. on top of that it lags the rooms out even more everytime one explodes, and pretty much every map is close quarters, playing with frags in close quarters where you have no chance of getting away is rediculous.
the 2nd reason i say that call of duty ruined vegas is because ubisoft themselves tried to make it more of a run and gun game and completely got away from what made vegas 1 on xbox 360 so good..... in vegas 1 on 360 (i nevr played the ps3 version) people set up paramiters and had strategys in games, in vegas 2 they set up almost every map so that you basically cant even do this. and the random spawns in deathmatches made it even worse because now you just get shot in the back more by people who normally couldnt even kill anything. not to mention in vegas 1 if you sat there and just held down the trigger button you werent killing much, but they made it more noob friendly for vegas 2 and now you can spray and pray with any gun in the game and still kill people.
the host advantage is so rediculous too, even if there has to be one, its worse in vegas than any other game, thats why unless hes complete garbage then the host will win a regular deathmatch everytime, and even a team deathmatch, his team SHOULD win.
vegas 1 was one of the most fun multiplayers EVER, the maps were better, and it took skill to actually be good at.

and listen man dont go saying you got elite in one day because thats complete bullshit, it took me about a week just playing attack and defend on villa boostin points and i played it alot. the only way youde get elite in 1 day is if you did the story mode glitch, and even that might not be able to be done in 1 day. and if you did do the story mode glitch then you knew what you were doing so i dont see what youde be complaining about now. and being elite doesnt even mean anything in vegas 2, it did in vegas 1 but not in 2. ill smash all those fake elites out there. give me a good connection and ill smash most people. another thing that i think sucks ,even in call of duty is the fact that you get stuck playing with people who live on the other side of the world. people from the uk france etc, there all laggy as hell because they live so far away, and it takes way more bullets to kill them. this even goes for call of duty too, they need to have seperate servers for different continents or do something because it sucks when someone who isnt even good just sits there and takes your bullets and then kills you an wants to talk shit afterwards.
i honestly wish game battles had some kind of connection test where if your connection is too laggy or doesnt meet a certain requirement then you arent allowed in the games. that same guy from the UK who takes a whole clip to kill would probably be dropping like nothing if you were both playing with an equal connection.

i would buy a new HDD
take the one with all the info out and send your ps3 with the new HDD in it

Nah, I did some mode where you just leave your PS3 on while other people play and you get like 400 pts/min, they patched it now though I think, not sure since I traded it in about 2 months ago, I don't even remember the game modes
